Pompano Beach High School Hosts the International Summit

Pompano Beach High School hosts its third annual International Summit, January 21 – 27, 2017. More than 80 educators and students from eight countries including Brazil, China, Egypt, France, Haiti, Ireland, Poland and Switzerland will participate in the summit.

This event is designed to develop cultural awareness in the field of education, increase knowledge about the United States and visiting schools, and establish lasting ties among participants.  Opportunities include teaching and learning with Pompano Beach High educators, meeting with university professors and administrators on their campus, and sharing cultural practices in the community. Educators and other foreign dignitaries are invited to discuss issues in education from specific cultural perspectives.

On Monday, January 23, 2017, a welcome breakfast starting at 7:30 a.m. will kick off the week long summit.  Pompano Beach High students will perform a special talent show for the visiting educators and students at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, January 24, 2017, in the school auditorium. The Confucius Institute of Broward County Public Schools will host a Chinese Cultural Awareness Day on Friday, January 27, 2017. This event will include performances and academic competitions by students enrolled in Chinese language classes. Attendees will see Chinese exhibits and sample authentic Chinese food to celebrate the Chinese New Year.

This summit is being held at Pompano Beach High, which is a magnet school with a theme of International Affairs with Information Technology.
