Atlantic West Elementary School cordially invites you to the first 2015-2016 Sprouting STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) Museum Magnet Showcase on Thursday, October 29th at 6:30 pm. Learn more about the STEAM Museum magnet program from student-docents while you review museum qualiy exhibits and demonstrations. The STEAM Museum Magnet Showcase will take place at Atlantic West Elementary School located at 301 NW 69 Terrace in Margate.

Atlantic Technical High School is recognized as “Beating the Odds” on Newsweek magazine’s list for 2015. This list, separate from the overall America’s Best High Schools Newsweek list, ranks schools that do an excellent job of preparing students for college while overcoming the obstacles of a low socioeconomic population.

Celebrities Cameron Diaz, John Lloyd Young and Carla Dirlikov to Work With Three Turnaround Schools

On June 3, 2015, the President’s Committee on the Arts and Humanities announced the expansion of its successful Turnaround Arts initiative to include three elementary schools in Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) – Bethune Elementary School, Lake Forest Elementary School and Walker Elementary School – in an effort to narrow the achievement gap and increase student engagement through the arts.

Supreme Court justice tells Broward students to make most of 'best chance'

U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor was greeted by a standing ovation and thunderous applause from students and parents as she took the stage at the Pompano Beach Middle School end-of-year award ceremony Monday evening.

Sotomayor spoke for about five minutes to an auditorium of about 1,000 students and families during the event at Pompano High.

Bethune Elementary Offers Top Notch Arts Education Program

Students at Bethune Elementary School of the Arts are receiving a high quality education through artistic expression. The school’s Dancer’s Express gave a recital that featured variety of high energy dances. They included “The Water Cycle,” “Fire Dance,” “South African Boot Dance and Can Dance” and “Rock My Soul.”

And these dances offer an excellent opportunity to educate young people. “The kids are learning science through the kinesthetic movement,” said Nerissa Street, drama director at Bethune.

Students March to Show Their “Above the Influence” of Drugs, Alcohol, Bullying

Pompano Beach – Samantha, Faith and Elizabeth are at least four years away from the collegiate pressures that lead so many students to drink alcohol and use drugs. But these three Pompano Beach Middle School students have already made a pledge to abstain.

On Friday, March 13 at 10:30 a.m., students from Pompano Middle will take part in “Above the Influence” and march from their school, 310 NE 6 St., to Pompano Beach High School, 600 NE 13 Ave. Members of the public are invited to join.
