Fort Lauderdale High School is proud to announce that 16 talented students have won awards from University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) in recognition of their outstanding results in the June 2009 examination session.
PARENTS AND STUDENTS SHOP FOR AN INNOVATIVE PROGRAM AT SHOWCASE
The International Baccalaureate (IB) students at Deerfield Beach Middle, Lauderdale Lakes Middle, Boyd Anderson, Miramar and Deerfield Beach High schools have joined hands with tens of thousands of other school children around the world who share the vision and dedication to empower communities through education in remote areas of Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Freshmen new to the Environmental Science and Everglades Restoration Magnet Program at South Plantation High will get their first taste of high school life Aug. 13 at Camp Everglades 2009. During the orientation program, the 170 students will meet their classmates who come from 28 different middle and private schools throughout Broward County. Teachers will be on hand to prepare the newcomers for the academic rigors of high school. Coaches, cheerleaders and band members will encourage the freshmen to become involved in extracurricular activities.

Dillard Center for the Arts (DCA) has been nominated in two categories for Nickelodeon’s Parents’ Picks Awards. The DCA Music Department is a nominee for “Best Music Classes in South Florida” and the DCA Art Department is a nominee for “Best Art Classes in South Florida.” Chosen due to high ratings and comments by ParentsConnect.com (a resource center for parents), Dillard Center for the Arts was notified this week of their nomination.
The public is allowed to vote once daily online until July 15. Winners will be announced on August 17, 2009.
