Virginia Knudsen fell in love with aviation at an early age, when her father took her to LaGuardia Airport to watch the planes take off. While growing up, her passion for flight never waned and she was eventually able to combine that love with her enthusiasm for teaching. For the past 12 years, Knudsen has been working as a science teacher at a variety of South Florida schools while also serving as the squadron commander for the Civil Air Patrol, an after-school program that teaches students leadership skills and aerospace topics.
The 2012-2013 student reassignment window will be closing on June 15th. If you wish to apply for a reassignment for your child please complete an online application before the June 15th deadline. If you are unable to complete the online application you must mail or drop off your application to the Innovative Programs Office at 600 SE 3rd Avenue, Fort Lauderdale FL 33301. All mailed applications must be postmarked on or before June 15th to be accepted. Faxed applications WILL NOT be processed.

The Dillard Center for the Arts Jazz Ensemble is quickly becoming a melodious force to be reckoned with in the competitive world of high school jazz. And that ain't just whistlin' Dixie. The band on Sunday won the Essentially Ellington Jazz Band Competition and Festival, which has been called the "Super Bowl" of high school jazz.
Reassignment applications for the 2012-2013 school year will be accepted between May 1st – June 15th. No applications will be accepted after the June 15th deadline.
